In these strange times, very special online events are organized. For example, American student, Julia Stelman, placed a call on Gigstarter to organise an international online festival in honor of her birthday. She set up a crowdfunding campaign and raised enough money to host 24 Gigstarter artists for her 24th birthday this weekend!
Julia and had been following Gigstarter on social media for several years and saw a message in passing that you could celebrate your birthday with online gigs. This message triggered her to go big during this lockdown. This weekend she is going to celebrate her birthday with 24 European Gigstarter artists who will perform via live-stream for the dozens of donors who have paid. You can still donate for this great initiative via Gofundme.

Julia: "While I was bummed that a concert ticket I'd bought for my birthday was suddenly lost money, I realised that a musician out there had no choice but to cancel their concert. While I wanted to see a show with that money, the artist depended on that money as part of their income. This artist was lucky enough to sell out gigs months in advance, but I know a lot of freelance musicians who weren't as lucky. I wanted to find a way to help some of them make up for one of the gigs that corona virus took away from them."
