In the new season of GigstarterOnTour, we will give tips about the best hot spots to watch live music in the cities we will be visiting. For this first episode of 2018, we are going to London. A metropolis full of great venues and places where people are playing music. We will highlight some venues that Gigstarter recommends in London.
Watch jazz music in London in Ronnie Scott’s
Ronnie Scott's is the most famous jazz club in London and was founded in 1959 by the English jazz musician Ronnie Scott. Famous are the concert recordings made in 1974 of a concert by Ella Fitzgerald and her trio, which were released on LP under the title Ella in London. It’s open every day from 6 PM until 3 AM, only on Sunday they’re adjusting their opening hours.
Blues in London at the Blues Kitchen
The Blues Kitchen is a BBQ restaurant & live music venue specializing in rare and vintage bourbon and nice blues. Previous shows have included performances from Seasick Steve, Gary Clark Jr, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, The Libertines and many more.The Blues Kitchen is the current record holder for the World's Longest Musical Jam, having hosted a 50-hour non-stop music session in September 2014. The three-day event saw 300+ artists take to the stage, raising £5,000 for charity. Open every day from 12 PM until late!

World Music at the Troubadour
This place has been delighting Londoners for more than 60 years; Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and Elvis Costello have passed through, and now you can too. The dinner and cocktails ramp up until about 11, then live music is played until very late. Mostly, the venue provides you with an extremely eclectic musical programme of the genre world music, among other things.
The Troubadour is now a thriving café-bar and restaurant and the club continues to host live music, comedy, poetry and theatre, mainly by performers who, in the club's tradition, write their own material. More recent artists to pass through the club include Florence Welch, Jamie T, Jack Peñate and Paolo Nutini.
The club is open from 8pm to 12:30/2am
