From 2006 Spotify has changed the way we see and consume music. In this article we will dive in some of the brand new features, which were added in late 2022.
Most people cannot imagine their lives without this streaming service, it makes listening to their favorite musicians comfortable and accessible. Even though Spotify is far from perfection, during the last couple of years the company was actively developing and improving their product. Users got an opportunity to share their yearly statistics called Wrapped Spotify in 2016, listen to variety of podcasts in 2018 and many other things. Here are some interesting features, which just recently came out.

Karaoke mode
The name for this feature speaks for itself. Spotify is giving the opportunity to all of the shower and kitchen performers out there to sing along with their favorite tracks while seeing lyrics on the screen. Moreover, after every song there appears your score based on the notes accuracy, which allows you to compete with friends and family. No other streaming service has this feature, which makes Spotify a trendsetter.
New website to buy tickets
In 2022 Spotify created a separate website called Spotify Tickets, which lets people buy from it directly. Before, the app would redirect you to an extern ticket seller. This feature could be a profitable revenue stream for musicians who would rather sell the tickets themselves with close connection to fans. Even though Spotify Tickets is still in its test stage, we highly recommend to keep an eye on it.
Playlist in a Bottle
Do you remember making a time capsule in your backyard as a kid? Well, this is an upgraded musical version of it. From the end of 2023 you can choose at least 3 songs to save for yourself in the future. Once you finish the playlist, it'll disappear until January 2024. This feature is available only during a certain period (for now only in January), so don’t miss out on this feature next time!
New Icon System
Based on the fact that readability and visual language are becoming priorities for Spotify, the company launched a new icon system with a change in stroke size. The vast majority of icons stayed the same, however the look of the search bar and library completely changed. This addition opens a way to more efficient designing by reducing the amount of sizing from 5 to 2. Even though refreshed icons do not add extra value to the company, they create a comfortability in the environment of the user.
