After an exciting battle between 160 Gigstarter acts, the three most popular acts and three most popular DJs reached the final. Our six finalists gave a dazzling online performance for the Gigstarter Artist of the Year awards 2020.
The #Artist2020 Final
There was quite a lot to win during this special final. Not only do the winners become the new Artist & DJ of the Year, this year there were also fantastic money prizes to be won. Namely, a cheque of €1000 for the winning artist and a cheque of €500 for the winning DJ.
The finalists created an unforgettable evening: with the beautiful Pamela Magal, the Celtic rock band PanKart and the energetic Devonport. In the end, the jury chose the Wallonian band PanKart as Gigstarter Artist of the Year 2020. The variation among the DJs was great and they played very different sets; the techno-guru Larry7, virtuoso LLout and dreamy Alexey Grankowsky. The jury agreed that DJ LLout may hold the title DJ of the Year 2020!
We are very proud of the talented musicians and it is an honour to have them on Gigstarter. The previous winners The Happy Suspended and DJ Savio Damanio are happy to pass on the titles to the 2020 winners. Competition history
Since 2013, we have organised our annual Artist & DJ of the Year event. In recent years artists performed in different venues in Amsterdam: Bitterzoet, Ruigoord, Melkweg and the unfortunately closed Sugarfactory, now called Lovelee. Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, we were of course unable to ensure a physical event and were then forced to think of an alternative. Therefore, we decided to set up the final this year online, streamed from our headquarters in Amsterdam and with success.
